Midwinter Topiary
This was for you
Water bursts from bent brass. Paints the canvas – grass, steel, ground, and stone – in quartz cages. The air offers silence in awe. The sun sends prisms to dance in opalescence. A diaphanous veil hangs on wire over the field of glass coffins. Nature’s glory glistens in its violence – requires no witness, carries on despite us.
Magic is no accident. Everything had to align in just the right way to allow this to occur: the day’s temperature, the timing of the break, the illumination of the sun, and the invitation that you accepted to bear witness. This was for you.
